Diorama Break is my current personal project, I've had the idea since 2018. It's a tactical JRPG that aims to provide a unique and compelling combat system and narrative.
As of late 2023, this had been an entirely solo project, but I began working with other artists then, and the project eventually entered into full development for a vertical slice demo in December 2024. I currently serve primarily as the Director, Programmer, Game Designer, and Writer on the project and am heavily involved in all other aspects of development. I also handled production and parts of the art direction early on. Additionally, I handle all business operations not directly related to development, except the most complex accounting/legal tasks.
Aside from me, the full team I manage currently consists of 9 developers: seven artists, a composer, and a level designer. The full credits can be found in the presskit.
The game is being developed using my own engine created using the ODIN language and libraries/tools like SDL and FMOD. I have published a series talking about the development of that engine on my blog.
The game's combat system draws heavily from an early prototype of a similar combat system I developed from 2020-2021, though Diorama Break is far more fleshed out. I created a short series of video devlogs documenting the process of creating that, which can be found on my youtube channel.
